Roadside Attractions is planning a wide 2019 theatrical release for Todd Robinson’s The Last Full Measure. The distributor has acquired U.S. rights on the Vietnam drama that stars Avengers: Infinity War‘s Sebastian Stan along with Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, Diane Ladd, Amy Madigan, Jeremy Irvine and Bradley Whitford.

The film recounts an untold story about the heroism of American soldiers in Vietnam. Irvine plays William Pitsenbarger, an Air Force medic who saved over 60 men in one of the harshest battles of the Vietnam War. Offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of the combat zone, Pitsenbarger stayed behind to save and defend the lives of his fellow soldiers. Twenty years later, his comrade in arms (Hurt) and father (Plummer) seek the help of investigator Scott Huffman (Stan) and other surviving veterans of the battle to finally procure him The Congressional Medal of Honor he deserved.

“Todd Robinson’s riveting drama chronicles one man’s sacrifice and valor on the battlefield, and we believe it also highlights an aspect of American patriotism overdue for recognition. Everyone should know about William Pitsenbarger’s bravery and life, and it’s a privilege to bring this film to theaters where it should be seen,” said Roadside’s Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff.

Robinson also wrote the script. Timothy Scott Bogart, Mark Damon, Nicholas Cafritz, Robert Reed Peterson, Shaun Sanghani, Michael Bassick, Adi Cohen and Lauren Selig are producers. Foresight Unlimited produced in association with Rainmaker Films, Lightbox Pictures, Provocator, SSS Entertainment and BCL Finance Group. The U.S. deal was negotiated by ICM Partners and Foresight’s Damon, while Roadside Attractions was repped by Cohen. Foresight has international sales.

The Last Full Measure Is Finally Bringing Its Dream Cast to Theaters in 2019

A movie made for me, The Last Full Measure has a cast that I probably dreamt of.

If you’re a fan like me, you probably know when your favorite actor has movies coming. I’ve known about The Last Full Measure for quite some time, and for a while, it seemed as if we’d never see this movie. Lo and behold, at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, it was announced that Roadside Attractions (a sister company to Lionsgate) had purchased the distributing rights to the film.

Following the true story of William Pitsenbarger, who is played by Jeremy Irvine, the film is set around Pitsenbarger’s comrade in arms (William Hurt) and father (Christopher Plummer) trying to get him the Congressional Medal of Honor. With the help of investigator Scott Huffman (Sebastian Stan), the two want to honor William in the way they see fit.

I’ve been following the movie’s journey to the screen not just because I’m a fan of Sebastian Stan, but rather because this movie has an insane cast overall. From William Hurt (who many know from The Big Chill and who plays General Thaddeus Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) to Christopher Plummer (yes, Captain Von Trapp is in this movie, too) to Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Grant Gustin, it’s filled with dream actors.

No really, this cast list is so insane that I still think I’ve been dreaming and it isn’t really being made. With heavy hitters, new loves, and a story that is going to inspire many, The Last Full Measure promises to be an amazing film. Also, Sebastian Stan wears a lot of polos in this movie and I don’t need that in my life but here we are.

When asked about the purchase, Roadside’s Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff said, “Todd Robinson’s riveting drama chronicles one man’s sacrifice and valor on the battlefield, and we believe it also highlights an aspect of American patriotism overdue for recognition. Everyone should know about William Pitsenbarger’s bravery and life, and it’s a privilege to bring this film to theaters where it should be seen.”

Todd Robinson also wrote the script, as well as directed the film. It’s clearly a passion project, telling this story of a wonderful man who dedicated his life to saving those soldiers alongside him in the Vietnam war and it will be a wonderful film to see.

Roadside Attractions Nabs Vietnam Drama ‘The Last Full Measure’

Roadside Attractions has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the Vietnam War drama “The Last Full Measure.”

The big attraction here is a starry cast that includes Sebastian Stan in a non-Avengers role, and “War Horse’s” Jeremy Irvine. They’re supported by a horde of Oscar winners and nominees that includes Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, Diane Ladd and Amy Madigan. The company plans to release the film theatrically in early 2019.

Todd Robinson (“Phantom”) directs the film, which tells the true story of William Pitsenbarger (played by Irvine), an Air Force medic who saved over 60 men in one of the bloodiest battles of Vietnam. Instead of getting helicoptered out of the combat zone, Pitsenbarger stayed behind to try to save more of his fellow soldiers. Twenty years later, Pitsenbarger’s comrade in arms (Hurt) and father (Plummer) team up with an investigator Scott Huffman (Stan) to try to get him the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Timothy Scott Bogart, Mark Damon, Nicholas Cafritz, Robert Reed Peterson, Shaun Sanghani, Michael Bassick, Adi Cohen and Lauren Selig produced the film. Foresight Unlimited is handling international sales and produced the film in association with Rainmaker Films, Lightbox Pictures, Provocator, SSS Entertainment and BCL Finance Group.

The deal was negotiated by ICM Partners and Foresight’s Mark Damon, while Roadside Attractions was represented by co-founder Howard Cohen.

Roadside Attractions announced the sale at the Toronto Film Festival, where it is on hand to screen “Ben Is Back,” a family drama with Lucas Hedges and Julia Roberts, as well as “Viper Club,” a hostage drama with Matt Bomer and Susan Sarandon.
